The heart of Switzerland is home to charming villages, towns, and some of the most legendary railways and cable cars in Switzerland. This is one of the most popular regions to visit thanks to the huge variety of landscapes and scenery.
Most resorts are centred around the large, oddly shaped Lake Lucerne ranging from peaceful lakeside settings such as Vitznau, Brunnen or Weggis over Alpine resorts such as Engelberg to small hamlets overlooking Lake Lucerne such as Stoos or Rigi Kaltbad. The picturesque historic town of Lucerne is the most popular destination with its lakeside setting, mountain backdrop, and easy access to surrounding attractions.
